System Requirements

Use a server with:

• A current 64-bit Ubuntu, Debian, RHEL, CentOS, or Fedora release with systemd.
• Root access.
• Working DNS, a stable hostname, and a synchronized clock.
• Local storage for Engine, MySQL, logs, backups, and media.
• Network access to the X Acceleration release and license services.
• Supported hardware and drivers for Intel QSV or NVIDIA NVENC, if used.

Root Access

Run every Engine web command from a root shell or with sudo, including --help, --version, maintenance, and Docker commands. Non-root execution is rejected; setuid alone is not supported.

Required Packages

The installer checks runtime tools and can install missing packages through APT, DNF, or YUM.

The NVIDIA driver command checks build tools and headers for the running kernel when you start a driver installation. The standard Engine installer does not prepare these driver build packages.
