License Plans and Limits
Every Engine machine requires its own license. Check its License page for status, features, and current usage. The License page and customer order are authoritative.

Audit Retention is the plan entitlement. The current settings page accepts 0–90 days, subject to the plan limit; 0 disables retained audit history.
What the Limits Count

One input counts once, even with multiple encoders or outputs. Connections and bandwidth have separate limits.
Delivery Bandwidth
Changed in Engine 1.0+
HTTP and RTMP delivery share each machine’s licensed bandwidth allowance. Check recent usage on the License page. Limits are per machine, not shared across the cluster.
Exceeding the allowance or downgrading a plan can affect playback. Leave spare capacity for traffic changes.
Use Capacity & Reliability to test your workload. A license limit is not a guarantee of hardware capacity.
Other Limits
Engine rejects new starts, content creation, or playback that would exceed a limit. Existing content is not deleted.
For VOD playback, Movies, Series, and Episodes are each counted in ascending ID order. Only the first items up to each licensed limit can play. An Episode must be within both the Episode limit and its Series limit. A downgrade blocks playback of later items, including requests using existing links. All records remain available to view, edit, transfer, and delete. Upgrading the license or removing earlier items can restore playback access.

Each Master, origin, transcoder, DVB server, and CDN node needs its own license.
Activation and Hardware Changes
Activate the license for the intended machine in the customer area. Reissue it when moving to another machine; contact support before replacing hardware if you are unsure. A reissue does not create a shared license or restart a Trial.
Keep the license service reachable. Check the License page and contact support if authorization fails.
